Hey there, I`m Izabella

It`s really lovely to meet you here!

I`m the person/maker/designer/photographer/marketing manager/sales representative behind Izabella Szabo Jewellery.

I`m originally from Hungary and moved to the UK in 2010 with my now husband. We live in a beautiful little village in rural Sussex with our two daughters and favourite assistant, Biscoff, the ginger fluffball - and this is where I make my gentle bohemian pieces from my home studio.

In 2020 on a family holiday in Cornwall, I decided I must try making jewellery with all the treasures me and my daughters found on the beautiful Cornish beaches, and this was the first little spark that took me a step closer to Izabella Szabo Jewellery.

I started making wire wrapped jewellery and not long after this holiday I got my first torch and silver clay kit. With my first firing I was totally hooked, it clicked! Turning clay into silver is like magic and to this day I find soldering one of the most amusing part of silversmithing.

Izabella Szabo Jewellery was officially born after the encouragement of friends and family. I was (and still am!) thrilled to see that people are interested in my makes and I can honestly say that every purchase you make from me makes me have a little happy giggle.

How it all started

As long as I remember I loved finding treasures. It always had to be something special, sparkly and unique. Trinket dishes, gemstones, rings...

I remember being on holiday with my Grandma and finding a beautiful piece of Rose Quartz they put in a little cage necklace for me, I was amazed by the whole thing. This necklace was one of my most valued treasures alongside a ring with a big green stone!

Fast forward 25 years and I still love my jewellery and gemstones!

My style could be described as eclectic, inspiration comes from so many places...the countryside behind our house, the sea just down the road, a magical story I read for my daughters or the stars and the Moon above us. Someone once said Art is Everywhere and I can`t agree more.

Ancient history and folklore have also been an interest of mine from a young age - I studied Ancient History and Ethnology - and inspires many of my makes. I like to think of them as unique amulets and magical pieces, filled with creative energy and love.

Each Izabella Szabo Jewellery piece is designed and handcrafted by me, using traditional metalsmithing techniques.

I only use recycled sterling silver and gold, and source gemstones from responsible traders, as well as work on a zero waste base which means each offcut, gone-wrong design and even silver saw dust gets recycled.

Add some beautiful crystals and a pinch of magic to that and the outcome is my own kind of unique, gentle bohemian treasure that’s easy to wear for anyone.

I think that`s about it from me for now!

Please do get in touch if you have any questions, I`d love to hear from you!

You`ll find all my makes under the Shop section on the top of the page. I hope you get the same warm, fuzzy feeling from them that I have while making them, with love and care.

Lots of love

Biscoff, the official apprentice. His favourite job is sunbathing on the workshop floor and providing all kind of support by being pretty and fluffy.
